So Much Beautiful
I’ve sung a thousand songs
Played a thousand words
To make a melody flow between my prayers
The events and what happens next
Because I’m too strong to admit
How little it makes me feel
These nights I lie awake
With seasons gone by and wait
The hours hold me down
Until there’s no strength left
To dream of better days
So I’ll take all these feelings I have and let them become a song
I’ll take the blood flowing in me and write it all down
Because I don’t know how to exist unless I sing it all out
And that’s the gift I give to you
Would you come alongside me and see how I’ve grown
And save me from myself before I tear myself down
And see where the years have worn my fingertips around
From so much beautiful
I’ve walked a thousand days
Stood on a thousand grains of sand
Against a canyon wall warmed by the sun and my hand
And melted ice pressed against the path
Where I kept walking
I remember the years waiting
On promises made at the mercy
Of my own adventure and catastrophe
Until they turned upside down
Beneath a beautiful flowing gown
And gave me something worth keeping
So I’ll take all these feelings I have and let them become a song
I’ll take the blood flowing in me and write it all down
Because I don’t know how to exist unless I sing it all out
And that’s the gift I give to you
Would you come alongside me and see how I’ve grown
And save me from myself before I tear myself down
And see where the years have worn my fingertips around
From so much beautiful
