Always Faithful
Did you ever wonder why I never spoke at home
Nothing I could ever say would be new under the sun
But did you ever wonder if we got it all wrong
If we don’t need a stable income to support a two story home
I was scared of being different but now I’m scared to stay the same
Part of the living breathing system that took my confidence away
I don’t want to stay here in the place I’ve always been
Headed in the same direction everybody else is headed in
Always faithful, always where you will
Where I walk and where I go
These steps are not my own
When the sun sinks low and the shadows all grow long
I’ll rest my head and say my prayers
Always where you will Father, where you will
The time together was beautiful but I won’t stick it in a jar
And live my life in one moment of happiness
We’ve lowered our standards to just getting by
Keep a smile on your face
But there’s so much more on the narrow road that leads to life
Always faithful, always where you will
Where I walk and where I go
These steps are not my own
When the sun sinks low and the shadows all grow long
I’ll rest my head and say my prayers
Always where you will Father, where you will
Through the water pouring over
My car is pulled under where the mud is so thick
I have to fly away
All these strange things, all these feelings
Sway me from the water pouring over
To the road you’d have me walk on today
